Many people have been trying to make a movie out of the Captain Jack Aubry series of books for many decades. In 2003 Director Peter Weir and star Russell Crowe finally brought the books to screen with "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World." The critics loved, the box office was just barely there, and then the would be franchise starter fizzled out at the starting gate.
